Geotechnical Engineer Primary Purpose Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. Under general direction, develops and applies advanced geotechnical engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems. May provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity. Principal Duties and Responsibilities · Provide and manage geotechnical engineering services, including investigations, analysis, engineering evaluation, recommendations, reports, etc. on power plants projects and associated facilities. Serve external clients as well as internal clients with other divisions working on multi-discipline engineering projects. Oversee construction inspection and materials testing. · Independently develop engineering proposals and reports as well as perform quality reviews of proposals and reports developed by other staff. Mentor junior staff. · Independently applies knowledge and complies with B&V quality program relative to assigned tasks. Be responsible for ensuring compliance with B&V quality program. Provides related guidance and direction to others. Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts. · Prepares a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects. Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work. Prepares complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods. Reviews lower level engineering work or assignments. · Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects. · Serves as a technical specialist and has knowledge and skill set to provide consultation and guidance to project teams in geotechnical engineering area. Typically supports multiple projects on the complex technical challenges. Actively fosters knowledge management and provides mentoring. Develops and applies advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems. Education and Experience Requirements · Required Bachelor or Master Degree in geotechnical engineering. 8-10 years of Geotechnical working experience as a minimum. Knowledge, Skills and Competency · Strong technical base in geotechnical engineering. Strong abilities on Geotechnical Engineering software, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office. Strong technical base in construction & constructability practices & principles. · Knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal process, procurement & contract administration. Honesty, integrity, dependable and punctual. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills. · Ability to meet deadlines and work individually as well as part of a team. |
